Tuesday, September 28th - The baboon

The baboon looks absolutely nothing like a baboon. Evem the diagram doesnt look much like a baboon. It was quite a difficult one as well. A lot of effort for nothing particularly impressive.

Monday, September 27th - The texas longhorn

Todays task was nice and easy, although I did manage to make the horns lopsided. I fixed that quickly though. Cant have wonky horns

Friday, September 24th, Saturday September 25th and Sunday September 26th - The bird

The bird started off ok. Then it started getting a little more complicated. The tail is supposed to be a twist in the paper, but when you do the next few folds it ends up untwisting. That was frustrating.
Then step 14 involved using the shaft from a toilet paper dispenser. I saw this instruction and decided my origami looked enough like a bird to stop there and then. Im not about to go take apart my toilet paper dispenser to fold a paper bird.

My mini gnasher is a little uneven because i couldnt work out where the centre was.

Wednesday, September 22nd - Little piggy

Origami is getting hard, but for some reason Ive been having a good few days and not had too much trouble folding stuff. it makes me happy.

Tuesday, September 21st - Cho (Japanese butterfly)

I love detailed instructions. Im glad they were there today because i think I would have thrown the calendar against the wall if i hadnt been told what to do in minute detail.

Monday, September 20th - The house

The house was incredibly simple. It was a boat base which you unfolded once, and hey presto a house!

Friday, September 17th, Saturday, September 18th and Sunday September 19th - The horse head

The instructions for the horse head were very explicit. Lots of step by step explaining, which was a nice change. Only problem is the end result doesnt look like a horse's head, it looks like a doberman.....

Thursday, September 16th - The blow and spin top

I honestly didnt think this would work. The end result was supposed to spin when you blew down on it. And it works! I have no idea how though...

Wednesday, September 15th - The penguin

This is one of many penguins. This one is rubbish. I couldnt do it. it was stupid.

Tuesday, 14 September 2010

Tuesday, September 14th - The simple elephant

I was hoping that the simple elephant was going to be simple to make. it wasnt. I had loads of trouble, but it does look like an elephant. If its a simple elephant i hate to think what a complicated elephant would be like to fold

Monday, September 13th - Dragon fly mystery

I enjoyed the folding today. It was relatively simple. There was an element of risk today though in that i had to cut straight through the middle to get the end result. Not necessarily a good idea when the person doing the cutting is not good with scissors/cant judge where the middle is/cant cut straight.
I turned out ok in the end. Fluke.

Friday, September 10th, Saturday September 11th and Sunday September 12th - Flower design part 2

Ok, im willing to admit when Im retarded. Yesterdays origami was the first of a two parter. The finished product does look a lot more like a flower. The weekends activity is to make an origami bouquet, which i wont do....

Thursday, 9 September 2010

Thursday, September 9th - Flower design part 1

This is a cool folding exercise, but it doesnt look much lik a flower. I enjoyed it because it turned out exactly as it should. And the folds were straight.

Wednesday, September 9th - Cowboy hat modified

The cowboy hat modified is very tall and doesnt look like a cowboy hat.
I wasnt very motivated

Tuesday, 7 September 2010

Tuesday, September 7th - The red fox

The red fox was designed by an 11 year old. As such the instructions were rubbish. In fact one entire and very crucial instruction was completely missing. the instruction that was missing was "repeat on the other side", meaning that for a while i sat there wondering what on earth this kid did to make her paper look the way it did.
Then when the red fox was actually done, it didnt actually look like a fox!

Monday, September 6th - The Swooping sparrow

Now this one is cool. ridiculously simple, and it does actually swoop, then spiral and crash to the ground, but it does what its supposed to do.
If i remember ill keep the instructions for this one

Friday, September 3rd, Saturday September 4th and Sunday September 5hth - The mouse

The mouse doesnt really look like a mouse. It looks like some form of prehistoric monster mouse or something. All of its features are too big.

Wednesday, September 1st and Thursday, September 2nd - Croak on the croc

This origami was a midweek two parter, and you can tell were in the second half of the year because it required many different skills. I obviously failed, mainly because it involved scissors and fiddly folding. I failed so badly that Ill have to talk you through the picture. The crocodiles head and snout are on the right. The little frog sitting on the crocodiles back is the sticky out thing on the left
