Tuesday, November 30th - The fancy twirly bird

Todays activity was a lot simpler than Im used to. And it did actually twirl. I know I sometimes put videos up when my origami does something exciting but the twirling happens too quickly in this case so youll just have to take my word for it.

Update on the turtle

The turtle looks a lot more like a turtle if its not upside down......

Monday 29 November 2010

Monday, November 29th - The turtle

The turtle was going ok, but I stopped halfway through to make dinner. When I got back Id lost my flow and then I had to cut something and the cutting bit failed me.
It doesnt look like a turtle

Friday 26 November 2010

Friday, November 26th, Saturday, November 27th and Sunday, November 29th - the cone thing

The task was to make a triangular cone, which would be useful for some hanukkah cone. I dont know anything about hanukkah, and I couldnt make the cone. The tucking in of the corners bit was a little too complicated for me....

Thursday, November 25th - The wishbone

I made a mistake with this one. I accidently thought the last step was the 5th step out of 7. The last step being to rip it. It made it quite difficult to finish it.

Wednesday 24 November 2010

Wednesday, November 24th - The fat turkey

This actually does look like a turkey. Its quite hard to see in the picture though so youll just have to take my word for it,

Tuesday, November 23rd - The candle napkin fold

I was a little enthusiastic about this because I thought i might be able to use it in the future. Then I remembered I havent successfully folded anything in a while. Once again this was a failure. It definitely does not look like a candle

Monday, November 22nd - Le croissant

The croissant doesnt look like a croissant, it looks more like a fish of some sort. origami fail

Sunday 21 November 2010

Friday, November 19th, Saturday, November 20th and Sunday, November 21st - The turkey

The turkey is in honour of American thanksgiving. The weekend activity being to transform the turkey into turkey shaped place settings by writing the name of the person on the tail. You can tell how much effort i will have wanted to put into this too hey?

Thursday, November 18th - The tea cup

I have a little bias against tea cups. Theyre always way too small for a good cup of tea. you need a mug, and when its a bad day you need a giant mug (my resident uni mug is a giant mug). So i went in to the tea cup origami without too much enthusiasm (partly because of my opinion of tea cups, but also because by now I HATE ORIGAMI WITH A PASSION).
The result was a tea cup that illustrated the love and care I put into it: none

Wednesday, November 17th - The complex tray

one of the instructions was incredibly complicated and I dont think it was really. I dont know what kind of tray it is....

Tuesday, November 16th - The letterfold

This is a novel way of folding a letter. I think its supposed to be for passing notes in school or something. You couldnt write an address on it for certain.

Monday, November 15th - The bonnet

The bonnet was going ok until I had to fold the front bit back, then it kind of looked funny. Ive recently noticed that most of my origami doesnt work anymore....

Friday, November 12th, Saturday, November 13th and Sunday November 14th - The fancy butterfly

I think there was something wrong with the instructions. I tried to follow them to the letter but for some reason the middle of my butterfly was more stretched out than it should have been, so i squished it a bit but it didnt work very well.

Thursday 11 November 2010

Thursday, November 11th - Spinosaurus

Spinosaurus looks cool on paper. I cant seem to get origami to look like the picture though. Its kind of upsetting because an origami dinosaur would be an awesome thing to be able to make.

Wednesday 10 November 2010

Wednesday, November 10th - The instruction folder

I dont really know what an instruction folder is. I think I just folded a pouch. It was very easy.

Tuesday, November 9th - Toro the bull

In the same way as I was losing steam with the pheasant, I decided to ignore the instruction to use a ruler and just guess what half an inch was. It actually didnt backfire. The design flow with the bull is that it doesnt have strong enough folds to stay as it is. It looks more like a bull in real life

Monday, November 8th - The pheasant

Im running out of origami steam. I just cant be bothered any more so I dont make much effort. The pheasant is a prime example of this. The final instruction had one too many arrows on it so I gave up and tried to make it look like a pheasant. I failed

Saturday, November 6th and Sunday November 7th - The flower stem

I made a mistake. I assumed that friday's activity was the whole weekend activity. I was wrong. I was supposed to make a stem for my flower. Now ive put away my flower so all youre seeing is the stem but im sure it looks very nice with the flower sat on top of it.

Sunday 7 November 2010

Friday, November 5th, Saturday November 6th and Sunday November 7th - The flower

This is the third flower im folding this year. This one is just accordion folds and unfolding in a specific way. I needed sticky tape to finish it but i didnt have any so i just held it together for the picture.

Thursday 4 November 2010

Thursday, November 4th - Practice for tomorrow's model

Today was a practice session for tomorrows activity, which i will be doing on sunday. It was basically just an accordion fold thing, which was simple enough. no picture tonight, its too boring to merit a picture

Wednesday 3 November 2010

Wednesday, November 3rd - The mandarin duck

The mandarin duck has a tail and a beak that are made with folds that i cant do neatly so my duck looks really messy. i failed

Tuesday, November 2nd - The chair

The last step of making the chair was a complete mystery so i just folded it so it would look like a chair. its not stable though.

Monday, November 1st - The mini football

There are multiple problems with the mini football. The first is the obvious language barrier. The origami calendar is american so what they call a football is actually a rugby ball.
Secondly, the ball doesnt actually look like a ball. when i folded it it looked nothing like a ball, american or british.
